Goddess Ganga Painting | Ellora Cave 21

The entrance is flanked by large sculptures of the river goddesses Ganga and Yamuna. Goddess Ganga depicted standing on her mount, the makara, and accompanied by attendants. The figures represent the sacred river goddess and her purifying power, carved into the rock between the 6th and 10th centuries.
